Prism Family Calendar

Privacy policy

Last updated: 25 October 2026

Prism Family Calendar is a privately operated, self-hosted household calendar dashboard using the open-source Prism application. This policy describes the intended handling of Google Calendar data by this household installation. It is not a public or commercial calendar service.

Information accessed

When an authorised family member connects a Google account, the application may access the Google Calendars available to that account, including calendar names and identifiers, event titles, dates and times, descriptions, locations, attendee details and other fields returned by the Google Calendar API. Google OAuth credentials, including a refresh token, are used to maintain the authorised connection.

Purpose and use

Google Calendar information is used only to show household schedules, keep events in sync, and create, edit or delete calendar events when an authorised household user requests those actions. The integration requests read/write calendar access for these purposes. Google Calendar information is not used for advertising, marketing, profiling or training artificial intelligence models.

Storage and retention

The Prism application and its database run on a Raspberry Pi within the home network. The application may store locally synchronised calendar information and the credentials needed to maintain the connection. Google also retains the original calendar information according to the Google account's own settings. Local copies may remain until they are cleared from Prism, its database and any backups. Revoking Google access prevents future authorised API access but does not by itself guarantee removal of previously synchronised local copies.

Sharing and third parties

Calendar information is exchanged with Google's Calendar API to provide synchronisation. It is displayed to authorised users of the household dashboard. The household operator does not sell or disclose Google Calendar information to advertisers or data brokers. The public informational website does not receive calendar events or OAuth credentials. GitHub Pages hosts the public informational webpages and may process normal website access information under its own policies.

Access and security

The actual Prism dashboard is intended to be available only on the household's trusted private network. Access should be restricted to authorised household users. Google authorisation credentials should be kept private, and the Raspberry Pi and application should be kept updated. No claim is made that local data is encrypted at rest unless that protection is separately configured and verified.

Disconnecting or deleting data

Google Calendar access can be revoked at Google Account — Third-party connections. The Google integration can also be disconnected in Prism's integrations settings. To remove existing copies, the household operator must also delete relevant locally stored records and any backups. Events remaining in Google Calendar are managed through the user's Google account.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated if the household's configuration or handling of Google Calendar information materially changes.
